Server Plugins & Commands

Chapter 1 — Every command available to your rank on Federal SMP (Purpur 1.21) and when to use them.

Every rank on Federal SMP is built around two core plugins: EssentialsX for daily moderation tools and LibertyBans for all punishment enforcement. You must know which commands belong to your rank and when to use them. This chapter gives you the working knowledge to operate confidently from your very first shift.

EssentialsX

EssentialsX handles teleportation, homes, warps, kits, and the moderation commands you will use every shift:

  • /kick <player> <reason> — remove a player from the current session only. They can rejoin immediately. (Helper+)
  • /warn <player> <reason> — issue a formal, logged warning that counts toward the punishment scale. (Helper+)
  • /mute <player> <duration> <reason> — silence chat access without removing gameplay access. (Helper+)
  • /tp <player> and /tphere <player> — teleport to or summon a player to investigate reports. (Moderator+)
  • /vanish — become invisible to non-staff so you can observe without being noticed. (Admin+)
  • /god, /fly — used only for investigation or approved build purposes, never for casual play. (Admin+)

LibertyBans

LibertyBans is the dedicated punishment plugin. All punishments are logged with timestamps, reasons, and staff attribution, making them fully auditable.

IMPORTANT

Duration format uses shorthand: 30m (30 minutes), 12h (12 hours), 7d (7 days), perm or omit for permanent. Always include a clear, specific reason — "being bad" is not acceptable. Reference the rule number when possible (e.g., "Rule 3.2 — hate speech in chat").

GOLDEN RULE

Never use a command beyond your rank, even if you technically have access due to a permission error. If you notice you can run a command you should not have, report it immediately — do not use it "just this once."

Quick Review — Q&A

Q: Which plugin handles bans on this server?

A: LibertyBans. Not EssentialsX. All bans, mutes (tracked), IP bans, and punishment history are managed through LibertyBans.

Q: Can a Helper issue a ban?

A: No. Helpers can /warn, /mute, /kick, and view /history and /mutelist. Banning requires Moderator rank or higher.

Q: What is the difference between /kick and /ban?

A: /kick removes a player from the current session only — they can rejoin immediately. /ban (via LibertyBans) removes access for a set duration or permanently and is logged in punishment history.

Q: What is the ban command format?

A: /ban <player> <duration> <reason> — for example, /ban Steve 7d Rule 2.1 — x-ray confirmed via screenshare. Omit the duration for a permanent ban.

Q: A player says they were kicked unfairly. What do you check?

A: Run /history <player> to see if a kick was logged and by whom. Review the reason given and verify whether it matched the situation.
